The earliest known use of salt water for therapeutic purposes dates back to ancient Greece and Rome. The modern concept of thalassotherapy began to take shape in the 19th century. French physician René Quinton is credited with pioneering research on the therapeutic use of seawater. Today, salt water therapy is widely used in spas and wellness centers around the world, combining ancient wisdom with contemporary techniques to enhance physical and mental well-being.
